Global Competence Assessment Toolkit

Education from a global perspective

Global competence is essential in education systems for preparing informed, critical and engaged citizens who support the right to asylum, can question xenophobic narratives and are willing to understand and take a stand on current global challenges.

The Global Competence Assessment Toolkit aims to strenghthen both the capacity and motivation of secondary school teachers to work on the different dimensions of global competence.

This tool serves as an adaptable guide that promotes a culture of formative assessment based on the gradual development of students' global competence.

The Toolkit is currently available in Catalan and English.

What are the Toolkit components?

1. Assessments blocks and associated criteria. These assessment blocks are Critical Analysis of Local and Global Issues, SelfAwareness and Diverse Perspectives, Communication in Diverse Contexts and Transformative Action.

2. Assessment rubrics and achievement indicators. The rubrics provide a shared framework for interpreting and evaluating evidence of student learning in line with the set of criteria defined for each assessment block.

3. Pedagogical tools. These tools give teachers a practical way to guide the development and assessment of global competence in the classroom.

4. Activity Sheets for the Toolkit tools. Each Activity Sheet explains how a specific pedagogical tool can be implemented in the classroom according to different curriculum planning aspects, including subjects, duration, competences, assessment criteria, etc.
