American School of Barcelona in Support of Turkey and Syria

One of the hallmarks of the ASB community has been our commitment to caring and community service. As we watch the devastating aftermath of the earthquake, we immediately think about the affected people and how we can help. Students, staff, parents and friends have expressed the desire to take action, and together with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) we offer here the opportunity for our community to financially support those affected by the crisis.

Our History

The American School of Barcelona has a long-standing relationship with the UNHCR. This collaborative donation platform is where our community can donate funds directly to help thousands of families and children at risk of losing their lives due to difficult conditions in the area.

About the Organization

The Spanish UNHCR Committee assists and protects people forced to flee from natural disasters, violence, conflict and persecution.

About the Emergency in Turkey and Syria

Turkey has suffered severe back-to-back earthquakes in the last few days. More than 6000 buildings in ten cities have collapsed and the freezing temperatures are hindering rescue efforts. Thousands of people did not make it out of their homes since they were caught in their sleep at 4:17 am. The fortunate ones were able to escape their buildings before they collapsed, but now are facing a lack of shelter and warm clothes for months to come.
